Fourteen thousand years ago, powerful volcanic eruptions in New Zealand’s central north island brought to the surface massive amounts of pure pumice. This clean and sterile, free draining material is mined by Winstone Aggregates at Otamarakau Quarry, near Te Puke.

The pumice is extracted from a dry pit deposit and screened using conventional equipment to produce a range of high quality products for the horticultural, agricultural and construction industries.
